AVID Roots presents the latest release in our Four Classic Albums series with a re-mastered 2CD second release featuring four blues piano legends, complete with original artwork, liner notes and personnel details;

Following the incredible success of our AVID Roots series which includes such classic blues names as Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Jimmy Reed, B.B King, John Lee Hooker, T Bone Walker, Lonnie Johnson, Reverend Blind Gary Davis, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee and Big Joe Williams we thought it was time to add another three names to our Classic Roots roster. For the second time we have thrown a curve ball in the shape of some blues men not known for the classic acoustic guitar that would usually accompany the wandering blues man. For this remastered 2CD set we are featuring four Blues pianists in the shape of the legendary Leroy Carr, Speckled Red, Little Brother Montgomery and returning for a second appearance (see AMSC1398) Mr. Roosevelt Sykes. We are especially pleased to include 16 tracks recorded between 1932-34 by the legendary blues pianist Leroy Carr occasionally accompanied by his long time friend Scrapper Blackwell with whom Leroy had a long musical history with, as well as Josh White on a couple of tracks. We have attempted to clean up the sound of the old 78s as best we can so you can enjoy the music without too much interference. Talking about cleaning up, here we present a cleaner version of the notoriously naughty (lyrically) bluesman Speckled Red. Roosevelt Sykes returns for his second appearance for us with his classic The Honeydripper. And we conclude with a masterful album by Little Brother Montgomery, the hard to find album, Tasty Blues.
