AVID Country presents the latest release in our Five Classic Albums series with a remastered 2CD release from Ernest Tubb, complete with original artwork, liner notes and personnel details.
"Favorites"; "Daddy Of 'Em All"; "The Importance Of Being Ernest", "Ernest Tubb Record Shop" and "Ernest Tubb And His Texas Troubadours" plus two bonus tracks including an early version from 1948 of Blue Christmas, recorded way before the Elvis version!
True country music recording legend and country music pioneer, The Texas Troubadour, Ernest Tubb, finally takes his place in the AVID Music country hall of fame. Long overdue of course, but if you take a look below at the other country legends in our catalogue, perhaps we may be forgiven for taking our time. We wanted to get the selection right and we think we did by featuring five of the great man's classic early recordings starting way back in the 1940s! As you will see from the writing credits Ernest Tubb was one of the earliest country singer songwriters who wrote many of his own songs. This was partly due to the detrimental effect a tonsillectomy had had on his vocal chords. With the help of the widow of his great hero and inspiration Jimmie Rodgers, Ernest had signed to RCA records as a country singer, however with a weakened voice he decided to leave RCA and sign up to Decca records primarily as a songwriter where in 1941 he wrote his most famous song, the million selling 'Walking The Floor Over You' which was also to see the emergence of the honky tonk style of country music. Still performing right up to his death in 1984 at the relatively youthful age of 70 he was a fixture at the Grand Ole Opry and was proudly known to have taken his many fans along with him throughout his career.
As with all AVID releases, we hope you enjoy them and check out our extensive catalogue for more great music across country, rock n roll, easy listening, jazz and many other musical genres.
