AVID Entertainment goes back to school!
The Cool School that is, as we travel across America and land on the Californian coast of the 1950’s where a new ‘movement’ was taking shape. West Coast Cool Jazz as the ‘movement’ became known took a less aggressive, more laid back approach to that of its East Coast counterpart. Taking as its inspiration the laconic style of tenor man Lester Young and the radical innovations created by Miles Davis and Gerry Mulligan with the legendary ‘Birth Of The Cool’ album, Cool Jazz found its perfect resting place in the cool Californian sun!
Our incredible re-mastered double CD features all the legendary artists known to have attended the Cool School from Chet Baker and Gerry Mulligan to Shelly Manne, Zoot Sims, Stan Getz, Al Cohn, Jimmy Giuffre, Shorty Rogers, Art Pepper, Dave Brubeck to the coolest cat of them all Miles Davis.
