“ He could sing, he could dance, he could play, he could act. He could do it all”
So said the late great Godfather of Soul James Brown back in 1992 when asked to talk about the legendary showman Louis Jordan.
Often credited with kickstarting the rock n roll era Louis not only influenced Mr Brown but also Chuck Berry, Little Richard and even Bill Haley!
Louis’ big time was in the forties when he had a string of hits, all featured on AVID’s latest release in the Essential Collection.
These songs became household favourites in the 1990’s after the huge success of the stage musical Five Guys Named Moe based on Louis life. Sadly Louis died in 1975 and was never able to enjoy the huge revival of interest in his work.
