The Essential Collection welcomes the Fabulous Dorsey Brothers, so named after a 1947 Hollywood Biopic of the boys.
As our collection attests they were indeed fabulous, Tommy on trombone and Jimmy on clarinet and alto sax were certainly consummate musicians.
Unfortunately they were not so good at being brothers and after there initial success as the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra between 1928 and 1935, featured here, they had their famous falling out. Jimmy walked out of the band and the two were left to form their own bands, many tracks by both are featured on this stunning new compilation.
Both were highly successful with Tommy having the edge no doubt helped by having a singer called Frank Sinatra in his band, four tracks of whom are featured here.
The brothers got together again in 1953 and by 1956 even had a young man names Elvis Presley performing on their televised stage shows!
